Vero – #1 WBS 70/IW73-6

Christoph Liepach’s work ›Vero‹ is set against the often abrupt disappearance, during the period of German reunification, of the architecture and interiors that shaped everyday life in the GDR. Using dolls’ houses he found – built by private individuals – Liepach looks for a way to open up these replicated rooms as a point of access to memories of what has vanished. In the photographs, the dolls’ houses lose their sense of scale, which makes it possible to experience these preserved spatial models physically. In this process of securing evidence, they create a space for contemplation in which individual questions about how ideas of identity and of the present are formed can be asked.
